I want to cherish the beauty in this cultural practice, emphasizing the 해녀/Haenyeo’s tenacity, spirit and culture by painting the divers scavenging for sea floor for abalone, octopus, sea urchins and other sea creatures. I was really captured by how their vibrant sporting wetsuits, goggles and fishing equipment contrasted their environment.
